WNBA Exec on Angel Reese: “She needs to get the hell out of there” urges Sky star to request trade out of Chicago

According to a WNBA executive Angel Reese needs to get out of Chicago. Speaking to the DallasHoopsJournal, the anonymous exec said this: She needs to get the hell out of there. Chicago is probably the worst-run organization in the league. You’re gonna suspend your best player just because she’s putting the pressure on you to get better? That was embarrassing to see.”

Reese has been the talk of the WNBA streets and unfortunately, it has little to do with her on court exploits. In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, the WNBA All-Star voiced her frustration over the season and the state of the organization.

“I’m not settling for the same shit we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best and however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I am going to do this offseason. SO it’s going to be a very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”

Reese also talked about teammates by name, including veteran point guard and standout Courtney Vandersloot, who tore her ACL on June 7.

“We can’t rely on Courtney to come back at the age that she’s at. I know she’ll be a great asset for us but we can’t rely on that. We need someone probably a little younger with some experience, somebody who’s been playing the game and is willing to compete for a championship and has done it before.”

The Sky subsequently suspended Reese for the first half of Tuesday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, but a back injury caused her to miss the entire contest. Reese had previously been sidelined for 10 games due to a back problem.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh said that as it relates to the team’s final two games, Reese, “wants to be out there, but the team will gauge [ how she is feeling] day by day.

The unknown executive also believes the relationship between Reese and the Sky has run its course and become untenable, adding, “I think Chicago will try to trade her this offseason, but if they don’t she should request a trade.”

Reese sat out the Sky’s season finale against the New York Liberty, which they lost 91-86. This season Chicago finished 10-

a dismal 10-34, last in the Western Conference and tied with the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the league. On the season, Reese averaged 14.7 points, 12.”
